Free Garmin Map of South Africa

Download v49.00

This free Garmin map is created using data from OpenStreetMap.org. The download is a zip file and contains the map in .gmapi format that will work with Basecamp. You will need the Garmin Map Manager software to install it. The current version is 49.00, built 2016-10-17. Lesotho is no longer part of the map of South Africa, but can be downloaded as a separate map by clicking here. I now also have maps for Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe

I build and test this map from OpenStreetMap data on MacOS X and I use it on my Nuvi 1300 and Dakota 20. It will probably work on Windows if you copy the .gmap folder to %program files%\Garmin\BaseCamp\Maps but it has not been fully tested. Ensure that you read Garmin manuals for instructions on installing maps as I can take no responsibility for anything that might go wrong. If you find any errors in the map consider joining OpenStreetMap.org and contributing to the map.
